Judge ends long legal battle;
8-year-old can stay in Clearwater adults-only community
A judge finally ruled on the case that created many headlines over the years. But the ruling is just effective for this specific case, since the judge said in his ruling "that the state Department of Children and Families' prior order to keep Kimberly in the Stottlers' care "takes precedence over" the association's rule." So Kimberly can stay with her grandparents, but the question remains: Was it all worth it for the association? Shouldn't common sense sometimes win over rules.

SAN ANTONIO DOCTORS' ADThe Democratic Party has produced a television ad purporting to show
Rep Paul Ryan throwing grandma off the cliff, by opposing ObamaCare.
A couple of San Antonio doctors have responded with an effective ad to
counter this injustice. See the ad produced by Drs. Jane Hughes and Kris Held.

Class Always Shows
A doctor had his TV on in his office when the news of the military base shootings at Ft. Hood , TX came on. The husband of one of his employees was stationed there.
He called her into his office and as he told her what had happened, she got a text message from her husband saying, "I am okay." Her cell phone rang right after she read the message. It was an ER nurse,” I’m the one who just sent you a text, not your husband.
I thought it would be comforting but I was mistaken in doing so. I am sorry to tell you this, but your husband has been shot 4 times and he is in surgery."
The soldier's wife left Southern Clinic in Dothan, AL and drove all night to Ft.Hood. When she arrived, she found out her husband was out of surgery and would be OK. She rushed to his room and found that he already had two visitors there to comfort him.
He was just waking up and found his wife and the visitors by his side. The nurse took this picture:
What? No news crews and cameras? This is how people with class respond and pay respect to those in uniform.
I sent my cousin in Fayetteville , N.C. (Retired from Special Forces) that picture of Geo. W. visiting the wounded at Ft. Hood . I got this reply:
What is even better is the fact George W. Bush heard about Fort Hood, got in his car without any escort, apparently they did not have time to react, and drove to Fort Hood. He was stopped at the gate and the guard could not believe who he had just stopped. Bush only asks for directions to the hospital then drove on. The gate guard called that "The President is on Fort Hood and driving to the hospital."
The base went bananas looking for Obama. When they found it was Bush, they immediately offered escort. Bush simply told them it was o.k. and to let him visit the wounded and the dependents of the dead.
He stayed at Fort Hood for over six hours, and was finally asked to leave by a message from the White House.
Obama flew in days later and held a "photo opportunity" session in a gym, and did not even go to the hospital.
All this I picked up from two soldiers here who happened to be at Fort Hood when it happened.
This Bush/Obama/Ft.Hood story is something that should be sent to every voter in the US . Those who wanted "change". You certainly got it.
Someone, PLEASE, show me anything that will tell us that Obama has ANY respect for the country he leads! I'm looking for just a little sign of respect.
IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR RESPECT FOR OUR COUNTRY FROM OBAMA [YOU WILL LOOSE YOUR SIGHT FIRST]!!!

Sinkhole Swallows Florida Family’s Entire Backyard, Threatens Home
For the second time this month, a Florida family is at risk of having
their home swallowed by the Earth. A sinkhole sucked in Robert
Matheny’s entire backyard Friday, and as of Monday, the hole was about
105 feet long and 80 feet wide, slowly edging toward the house.
“I pulled open the curtains and there it was,” said the Gainesville father. “My first words were, do you think it’s time to move?”
The massive hole has forced Matheny and his wife out of the place they called home for the past 37 years.
“It took 12 hours to get 27 years of stuff packed up and out of the house,” Matheny said. “I want to just move out and let somebody else deal with it.”
Methany said most of the movement has been happening inside the hole, but still, he and his family are not taking any chances. They say they won’t be coming back.
The Methanys aren’t the only Florida residents to be forced to evacuate their home. Earlier this month a Windmere family awoke to find their backyard gone as well. A sinkhole that swallowed several objects including four trees and a hammock, had grown to at least 100 feet wide and 50 feet deep. This incident raised concerns among neighbors, who feared they would also have to flee the area.
Sinkholes form when ground water builds up and dissolves minerals into the earth, creating a hole so large that the land on top caves in. Geologists say that years of drought without a major hurricane striking the area is what may have helped the hole threatening the Matheny home.
County officials say the family’s neighbors are not in danger.
Although the Mathenys have lost the land where they watched their children grow up, they say they’re thankful no one was there when the ground caved in.

Gun sales strong in Polk

Gun sales historically increase when there is a possibility that a Democrat will be elected — or re-elected — president, according to local gun shop spokesmen, and the trend continues this election season.
Several Polk County gun shops report that sales continue to be strong.
Hartman's Guns and Ammo in Winter Haven experienced increases beginning in late 2011, but business has been robust for the past five years, said Jeff Riggeal, manager of the gun department.
Handguns are the shop's top sellers, followed by semiautomatic rifles.
Sales are up about 20 percent this year for Craig Shaver, owner of Arms Equipment and Rifles in Haines City.
His business opened nearly two years ago, and the biggest area of increase has been in semiautomatic handguns.
Steve Brown, manager of Shoot Straight in Lakeland, said his store is experiencing healthy sales of handguns and semiautomatic rifles — also referred to as modern sporting, paramilitary and assault rifles.
Gun aficionados tend to buy more guns and ammunition when it appears a Democrat could be elected president because history shows gun laws often tighten during a Democrat administration, Riggeal said. There is a mentality among many gun buyers that, "I better get one of these before I can't get them anymore."
Traditionally, "the first things (Democrats) go after are paramilitary-style weapons and high-capacity magazines in handguns" when they seek to enact gun legislation, Riggeal said.
In 1993, President Bill Clinton signed the Brady handgun law, mandating federal background checks for gun buyers.
He also signed the Assault Weapons Ban, passed by Congress in 1994, which lasted for 10 years.
President Barack Obama has not made any big moves regarding guns while president.
Regardless, Hartman's Guns and Ammo had a strong 2007, and after Obama's election, sales "went off the charts for three years," he said. "I've never seen it that strong, ever."
He had banked on the sales increase by stocking up on AR-15s, a popular semiautomatic rifle.
"We would sell five or six a day back then," he said. "For a store like this, that's incredible."
Today, he estimates he sells about three semiautomatic rifles per week.
Five years ago, it also was common for customers to stock up on ammunition. Some purchased $2,500 worth at a time.
"I think people do get nervous as we're entering an election," Brown said. "People get worried someone is going to make a run at their rights. They will not postpone purchasing something in that scenario."
In addition to election jitters, Brown said he believes some of the sales increase gun shops are experiencing is the result of pent-up demand that dates to the housing-market collapse.
People simply are ready to spend money again.
Some customers indicate they're buying a handgun for personal protection.
"Any time you have a recession or the economy is bad, crime goes up," Riggear said. "I've had people say they haven't owned a gun in 20 years, but they see so much going on around them, they feel scared. They want it for personal protection."
There's no question that the industry as a whole is seeing an increase in purchases, judging by how difficult it is to find some new firearms today, Brown said. Many Ruger, Smith & Wesson and Kimber products are back-ordered.
Ruger recently announced it has received orders for more than 1 million units in the first quarter of 2012. Because of that, it has temporarily suspended acceptance of new orders.
"If I order you a specific Kimber today, it will be at least eight months before I get that gun," Riggeal said. "I've gotten some in six months, and I've waited as long as a year for some."
Nationally, self-reported gun ownership is at 47 percent, according to a Gallup poll released in October. That is the highest it's been since 1993.
U.S. handgun growth has been driven by pistols, which represent 80 percent of units manufactured, according to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Annual Firearms Manufacturing and Export Report for 2010, the most current year available.
While it is difficult to quantify gun sales, local gun store managers agree that National Instant Criminal Background Check System firearm background checks provide some insight into sales trends because gun stores must conduct these checks prior to selling a gun.
However, these statistics represent the number of checks initiated through NICS, not the number of firearms sold, according to the FBI's website. NICS performed 256,821 firearm background checks between January and April. During the same four months last year, NICS conducted 220,950 checks.

The Captain suggested perhaps it would help if the sailors
Would change underwear occasionally.

The first mate responded, "Aye, aye sir, I'll see to it immediately!"
The
first mate went straight to the sailors berth deck and announced, "The
Captain thinks you guys smell bad and wants you to change your

He continued, "Pittman, you change with Jones, McCarthy, you change with Witkowski, and Brown, you change with

The
Bridgewater Homeowner's Association evicted JoAnne McCarn's tenant and
moved in their own. All over a missed HOA fee that ballooned in to a
lien for thousands of dollars.
Some
court rulings really make you wonder: Is this American Justice?
A
homeowner, who admittedly failed to pay a small amount of dues, was
literally dispossessed of her private property. Is failure of paying
association due reason enough for a judge to allow a HOA to evict the
tenant, change the locks, move in their own renters and threaten the
homeowner with arrest if she comes near her home -- the home still deeded
in her name and no foreclosure proceedings even started?

WHEN
WILL THIS NONSENSE STOP?
Another
story from the Bridgewater HOA in Wesley Chapel. This HOA is really
pushing its luck! I am still convinced that one day some judge will wake
up and realize that the HOA went totally overboard -- with the help of
judges. I find it amazing what's going on everywhere. I absolutely
agree: Owners should pay the association dues -- but using methods like
this to make them pay?
Dear Florida Homeowner and Condo Owner:
This week's talk of the town: A judge allowing a HOA to evict the tenant, change the locks, move in their own renters and threaten the homeowner with arrest if she comes near her home -- the home still deeded in her name and no foreclosure proceedings even started?American justice -- or another legal farce in a court that had its share of wild rulings in the past. I think it's just hilarious. And we always laughed about justice in Russia? I guess our judges haven't gone as far as sending folks to Siberia, but otherwise? Property rights -- a thing of the past?
California budget crisis: $16 billion in the red
California's budget deficit has swelled to a projected $16 billion — much larger than had been predicted just months ago — and will force severe cuts to schools and public safety if voters fail to approve tax increases in November, Gov. Jerry Brown said Saturday.
