Just take this last item: In the last two years we have accumulated national debt at a rate more than 27 times as fast as during the rest of our entire nation's history.
Over 27 times as fast. Metaphorically speaking, if you are driving in the right lane doing 65 MPH and a car rockets past you in the left lane.

CDD MEETING

Jake the snake is again missing from the CDD meeting.  What a useless chairman.  Totally useless.  He is never there.  Where is he, having fun with the girls?  This guy doesn't care at all about Lake Ashton.  Resign Jake, go home or go golfing.  What a bunch of crooks,  dummies,  and missing people on these committees.  Big Al Capone would be right at home here.Need I say More.

HOA sees the light on $20,000 fine

Some people who can't make their house payments get into a fight with a bank. Lakewood Ranch homeowner Linda Conti had no desire to do that.

Her mortgage had been a financial disaster from the first. She couldn't afford her payments and expenses, which were much higher than she had realized. She went through her savings trying to keep up, until she just couldn't.

And because she bought in January of 2006 — the worst time, at the crest of the real estate boom — her house's value had plummeted to far less than half what she owed.

She just gave the house to the bank with a deed in lieu of foreclosure. And, acting on legal advice she now thinks unwise, Conti moved out of the house even before any order or bank request. No eviction drama or court procedure required.

But banks were stalling on taking over homes, because the housing market was so glutted. The bank didn't take the house. Conti feared the empty place would deteriorate and become impossible to sell. And so, while paying rent elsewhere, she did her best to keep the house in good condition for sale, though she would never see a penny of the eventual sales price. For quite awhile she paid the electric bill, to prevent mildew.

But the house just sat.

I first heard about her situation a few weeks ago, when a cash buyer was anxious to close. The bank had agreed to the short-sale price.

But the closing agent found bad news that endangered the deal. Conti had committed a dire violation of the Summerfield/Riverwalk Homeowners Association rules: She had not kept the house's front-yard lamp lit.

Dreadful, but true. And such serious omissions have consequences, in the form of $50 fines – daily fines. The HOA board refused Conti's request to waive them.

The HOA had no objection to the house sale, of course, but insisted on the fine payoff at closing. With interest, the total charge was just over $20,000.

"Yes, I said $20,000 for an unlit yard lamp!" Conti told me. "I believe that the mafia would give me a better deal."

The closing agent, Renate Rodgers, said the discovery caused her to all but lose hope for the sale. Other deals had fallen through for similar reasons, and far less money. And in this neighborhood, the HOA had contracted with a law firm to make sure such fines weren't ignored. What buyer would ever pay an extra $20,000 for a house now valued by the county property appraiser at $134,000?

A no-sale would be bad for all concerned, including the neighborhood. It would mean one more unoccupied house with a "for sale" sign as a permanent fixture.

Rodgers hoped publicity might push the HOA board into being reasonable. I found that unlikely. HOA boards intent on rigid enforcement of rules and fines, and refusing to compromise, rarely see the light just because of a newspaper story.

But, maybe just coincidentally, shortly after I contacted the HOA's property managers, the board voted to waive the fine. All of it.

Rodgers is thrilled, though there is one remaining obstacle: The law firm did not waive its fee, for writing few letters and such, so it appears someone will have to pay about $2,000.

But the agent thinks the sale will happen.

"There is no doubt in my mind that your phone call brought attention and urgency to the matter," and made the difference, Rodgers said. "We can make this work now!"

I credit the HOA board with paying attention not just to rules, but to what's best for the neighborhood during tough financial times.

Sometimes, whatever the rules, there's a lot to be said for being reasonable. This time, I bet it will even help get that lamp back on.

This is from Mark Knoller of CBS.  The pilots and crew of Air Force One are flying more hours than a rookie on a beer run.  They are tired of it too, and are adding more crew to Air Force-1, -  I know this for a fact because I'm one of the instructors that trains the crews. Our company (Atlas Air) has had the Air Force-1 and E-4 contract for over two years and I've been doing it for about 8 months now.    Last year (2010) Obama flew in Air Force One 172 times, almost every other day.    White House officials have been telling reporters in recent days that the Democrat doesn't intend to hang around the White House quite so much in 2011.  They explain he wants to get out more around the country because, as everyone knows, that midterm election shellacking on Nov. 2 had nothing to do with his health care bill, over-spending or other policies, and everything to do with Obama's not adequately explaining himself to his countrymen and women. And with only 673 days remaining in Obama's never ending presidential campaign, the incumbent's travel pace will not likely slacken. At an Air Force-estimated cost of $181,757 per flight HOUR (not to mention the additional travel costs of Marine One, Secret Service, logistics and local police overtime), that's a lot of frequent flier dollars going into Obama's carbon footprint. We are privy to some of these numbers thanks to CBS' Mark Knoller, a bearded national treasure trove of presidential stats.  According to Knoller's copious notes, during the last year, Obama made 65 domestic trips over 104 days, and six trips to eight countries over 22 days.  Not counting six vacation trips over 32 days. He took 196 helicopter trips, signed 203 pieces of legislation and squeezed in 29 rounds of left-handed golf. Obama last year gave 491 speeches, remarks or statements.  That's more talking than goes on in some entire families, at least from fatherly mouths. In fact, even including the 24 days of 2010 that we never saw Obama in public, his speaking works out to about one official utterance every 11 waking hours.  Aides indicate the "Real Good Talker" believes we need more. Related:  Obama spends nearly half his presidency outside Washington , plans to travel more Related:  Vacationer-in-Chief Spends $1.75 Million to Visit Hawaiian Chums Obama has spent over $100 million taxpayer dollars flying around in Air Force One, and probably another $100 million on his entourage.  Obama is just another tin-pot dictator living lavishly at the expense of his subjects. And we seniors have to "tighten our belts" because we aren't getting a COLA again this year... and none last year! THANKS TO ALL WHO HELPED PUT THIS OBAMANATION IN OFFICE!!

Give Kids the World

Smiley Joe Ferreira,  Bingo Paul Pontious right hand man who would do anything to help Bingo Paul,  is keeping his month shut for a change, but for how long.  He was in charge with the illegal selling of 50/50 at Lake Ashton.   Where did all the money go?   Food is Joe's love.  That is why he goes to give kids the world, just to stuff his fat month.  He has no interest in giving any money to Give Kids the world.  I raised $1500, how much did you raise Joe?  How much did you give Joe?  Can't hear you.

I ask him a while back if he would help me with a show I was to have given at Lake Ashton to raise money for Give Kids the world and would you believe he said NO.  Yes, you heard it right, NO.

And here is this guy going by my house while I was out front calling me a idiot.  I did call the police on this actor with the big month.

This guy has no interest in helping the kid's all he thinks is stuffing his fat smiley month. He stole money from 50/50 and Bingo and help hired a bus that  took all his friends to dinner instead of giving it to charity or Give Kids the world,  its the law you must give the extra money to charity.  Yes he broke the law and he should be going to court with Bingo Paul instead of stuffing his fat month with food.  How can this guy live with himself???   Shame on you Joe, I hope you sleep good at night and all the food you ate goes down good.

where gangs are placing a car seat by the road...with a fake baby in

it...waiting for a woman, of course, to stop and check on the abandoned

baby.


"Note that the location of this car seat is usually beside a wooded or

grassy (field) area and the person -- woman -- will be dragged into the

woods, beaten and raped, and usually left for dead. If it's a man,

they're usually beaten and robbed and maybe left for dead, too.

DO NOT STOP FOR ANY REASON!!! DIAL 9-1-1 AND REPORT WHAT YOU SAW, BUT

DON 'T EVEN SLOW DOWN.
