"Chinese Drywall Causing Home Owner Headaches":
I lived at Lake Ashton. I highly advise anyone interested in moving there to find another place to live.
Yes, it's beautiful but it is full of problems,i.e. roads, CDD, drywall,fighting factions among the residents..need I go on. Getting the builder to 'fess up' is a nightmare in itself.Expecting your sales agent to stand by you is a joke. The condition of the drywall has been going on since the phase of building following the hurricane. I know this for a fact.Even though at that time there were complaints and inquiries as to the smell in the new homes being built no one paid any attention. This could have all been avoided if anyone would have listened or cared. But no, money talks and lots of money was being made. NOW...there are two sides to this. Perhaps the builders in the area didn't know of the dry wall problem and I'm giving that a fair chance. BUT, there was such a 'buying frenzy greed' during the time period right before the 'great bubble burst' that well........that's what greed gets. All those who came in and bought homes to "flip" some buying two or more at a time. I can't feel sorry for you.
You came in to make money on a community by renting out homes to people that were not part of that community. That is what contributes to the downfall of any community. No one wanted that. But, money just kept rolling in, sales people were flying high, buildings with defective dry wall and who knows what else were going up faster than we could keep up. So to the "flippers' you gambled and lost. Well, too bad.
So did a community when you left your stinking homes sitting.
If you think you will get this builder to do anything, you have a headache to face. Sometimes we have to know when to hold 'em and know when to fold 'em.
Lake Ashton, Florida in general is OVER folks. Retire elsewhere.

Management
If you think the management loves you, you better think again. Your going to have to hired a attorney against the Developer, HOA has one against the developer, The CDD has two against the developer and I would think that everyone who has Chinese drywall has one also against the developer. Yes we live in a community that the management doesn't give a shit about you. Prove me wrong! I believe his phone is off the hook. The management rents the restaurant and all the money goes in his pocket, also the Monday morning coffee money. Only a fool would have dinner there when he doesn't help us out.
Attorneys are taken all our money and given us no results, No money is going into Lake Ashton to help us residents. Prove me wrong! I have lost count on how many Lawyers are fighting the management, Thus far the total is 3 plus all the home owners that have Chinese drywall in their home and have gotten no reply from the management, leaving them no choice but to hired a lawyer or lawyers.
I might add that he kept our down payment of $10,000 on a RV home and we never got it back.
He build the bowling alley with second hand or used parts, now we are in knew deep in repair bills. May cost up to $250,000 to repair.

CHinese Drywall meeting in ballroom Thursday Jan 7 at 2pm
Who would have thought you would need to move out of a 3 year old home because of contaminated Chinese drywall? With health problems related to the drywall, to say nothing about our clothes picking up the smell permeating the house, we had to leave our home. It was devastating. Unbelievably; however Valerie Baker, who we did not know, offered us a house to use, fully furnished and rent free.
We have discovered that drywall was heavily imported between 2004 and 2007. Usage increased due to Katrina and the building boom. Some of the Chinese drywall was used in Lake Ashton. We hope and pray that its usage was limited. Unfortunately, we are aware of other homes with the problem.
Some people have said to us "we checked our ceiling and its ok so I quess we don't have a problem". Not necessarily. We had checked our ceiling panels above the garage, and came to the same "ok" conclusion. However, our walls have the "bad" drywall." (It isn't easy to take a saw to newly painted walls. We did and we found it).
Since in two months time we have been unable to sit down with management to discuss possible solutions we decided to move ahead with two informational meetings. There is no charge for either session.
On Thursday,Jan. 7th at 2:00 pm in the ballroom at the clubhouse there will be an informational meeting on Chinese drywall. This meeting will include photos of contamination, potential health effects and how we discovered the problem. Questions and answers will be a major part of the program. The session will be conducted by two residents with the problem and a professional house inspector who is familiar with Lake Ashton.
The second important meeting will occur on Tuesday, Jan. 12th at 2:00 pm in the HFC. Attorney, Dan Perry will discuss legal aspects of the drywall situation.
All are encouraged to attend these meetings. "BAD" drywall affects the entire community. The longer the status quo remains, the more publicity there will be with potential negative effects on home values, resales and initial sales.

Chinese Drywall Causing Home Owner Headaches
There are now two more homes in the West that have Chinese Drywall bringing the total to seven. I am quite sure there are more homes and that the residence does not know they have it. Any home build in the year 2006 could have it.

Security Patrol
The Lake Ashton Citizen Security Patrol "CAP" will no longer use their golf carts to patrol the streets. They have come up with a old police car with the name on the door called "Assisted Poke County Sheriff Dept." The car is owned by the Sheriff Dept. Now they are high tech, they also carry a special cell phone that is connected to the Sheriff Dept. All you crooks out there watch out, your going to get caught and spend time in the slammer, CAP doesn't mess around anymore.
