Yes, Lake Ashton is a beautiful place to live, BUT, it is run by the Developer and his media which is all control by the Developer and now the CDD, Thanks to Barbara Follet it is now control by conies of the developer, Jake Eaton and Margot Stevens.
GLHomes, one of the largest builders in Florida has acknowledge that some of their homes have Chinese drywall and ask the residents to move out into a hotel while they rebuild their home at GLHomes Expense.
Just a small correction to your GL Homes comment. GL packs up the residents and moves them into a temporary home while the drywall issue is being resolved. GL gives the owners a monthly allowance for this temporary home so there is no out of pocket expense to the home owner at all. Linear also had the same problems with Chinese drywall and are now repairing their homes at their expense. Our Developer Larry Maxwell has belly-up his building co. "Master craft homes" so he feels it is not his responsible for Chinese drywall. It will be a long fight with the developer, but its his responsibility to make things right for the resident. His phone is off the hook. He has not return one phone call.
Bowling Alley
He is also responsible for installing a second hand Bowling Alley over a stream causing a great deal of maintenance, now it must be totally replaced at a cost of $100,000 a lane.
MX Cable
He somehow got us stuck buying this MX for life and beyond, with many of us unaware when we bought our homes that we had MX and it was for life.
Storage Fees
Highest in this area, $125.00 plus 7%tax per month, open area $50.00 plus 7%tax and the boat dock was $100.00/mo, he put it down to $75.00 per month then $50.00 per month. The boat dock is not even on his land........
Roads
All roads fail the engineers core test last month. They are not up to specs and must be replaced at a cost up to $9,000,000.00
Restaurant
The Developer is renting the Grill from us at $50,000 per year and we pay all the expenses, electric, water, cleaning, broken dishes, and all other repairs. What a sweet deal. I am asking all of you to show our love to the developer by not eating at the grill. He doesn't help us, so why should we help him.
None. No Sidewalks because he did not care about you getting hit by a truck or car. If you look at other communities, they have sidewalks. The road width is as small as allow by law to build and that is what he did. He care less.
Driveways
The length of your driveway is just about long enough for your car to fit. Not only that he wanted to use less paves as possible to save money.
The restaurant should be in a separate building by the developer. Why do I say this, because we can't lock up the Clubhouse, and someday damage or computers will be taken and we have to pay to have them replaced. Anybody can walk in and help themselves.
Golf
Why do the residents of Lake Ashton or their guest have to pay $100.00 while some guy outside the community has to pay only $50.00 to play golf. Something is wrong with this picture.
CDD
Many of the respectable communities in this area have no CDD. When we bought our homes we all go stuck into paying $9,000 to $20,000 in CDD money back to the city. Other communities have no CDD. This my friends is a rip off. A fool is born every day. The city never inspected the roads.
Other communities have just the HOA fee which mows your lawn, gives you cable, pays your water bill and all the amenities like we have here at Lake Ashton plus the residents own the restaurant. Yes there is a fee for this but its not that much, lot cheaper than what your paying now.
Community Director
This position is a big joke. No other community has a director, Joe Hunter is only here to see that you don't get out of hand and is control by the developer. He is a spy for the Developer. Watch out Bingo Paul and Joe are just alike, spy's.
Community Newsletter
Have you notice all the ads in the LA TIMES. No ads should be allowed in the local newsletter. All ad money goes to the developer not to the residents. Other communities does not allow ads to be placed in their newsletter. It is their community and should not be allowed.
Monday Morning Coffee Meeting
Yes, you guess it. All money collected from the meeting goes to the developer's pocket. At one time it was the residents money, now its his.
Restaurant
Yes, he runs the restaurant and keeps all the money in his pocket.
Yes, he has suit many residents here at Lake Ashton, and they had to pay him money to settle the suit. You are not safe from the developer.
HOA
The entire HOA staff has throw in their towel. They want no part of it. All new Directors are running.
Maintenance Fees
Fees will easily double in a few years because of all the problems the Developer did to us. There is no way around this. We have big problems here and attornies must be hired.
Research
I did my research and got all my facts right, please notify me if I made an error!
What I said is the truth, believe it or not. And I can say this, there will be a lot of residents moving out of here this year.
