This is a video that was submitted in a contest by a 20-year old. The contest was  titled "u @ 50" by AARP. President of homeowners association accused of embezzlement

NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla.- Board members of the Sabal Springs Golf and Raquet Club filed charges Wednesday against the former president of the homeowners association, claiming he embezzled more than a $1 million over the last 3 years.

Kay Joyce has lived in the Sabal Springs community for the last 16 years. When homeowners were notified the board would pursue legal action against their former leader, Joyce said, "I was really disappointed that something like that could happen to our community." The report filed with the Lee County Sheriffs Office says an audit conducted by the association's treasurer showed the accused would write a check or transfer money from the reserve account to Sabal Springs Golf, to himself, or to his father.

    

Board members say the accused admitted to taking $665,000.

The incident report also says millions of dollars are funneled through the Sabal Springs Golf and Raquet Club every year, although it only generates about $140,000 in total income.

The Lee County Sheriffs Office economic crimes unit is investigating the claims.

Retired Police Officer Reportedly Told to Remove Flag Honoring Victims of 9/11

A retired New York City police officer living in Florida has been ordered to take down his flag commemorating September 11 by his homeowners’ association, WPLG reports.

Richard Wentz, who helped victims out of the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, has been told he has just days to take down his flag or face possible legal action. "That flag means the world to me. Other than my children, that flag means the world to me," said Wentz. A letter from the Fairways at Heron Bay association said the flag detracts from the

aesthetic harmony of the surrounding properties. Wentz said he was confronted by Patricia Favata, president of the property’s board of directors, according to the station.  

No one was at Favata's home when WPLG Local 10 tried to talk to her. 

Wentz said he ran into Tower 1 and started pulling out people before the building collapsed. He said he lost 43 friends and colleagues that day. Wentz says he now has cancer, from breathing in all the particles during the cleanup of Ground Zero. "I will not take that flag down. That flag will remain up. I don't care how many fines they want to give me, how many notices they want to give me, I refuse to take that down," Wentz told the station.

HOA Forecloses on Jacksonville Beach Home For Unpaid Dues

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. -- We'd like to show you the inside of this Jacksonville Beach house, but we can't.
"One day I had a gentleman show up to the door and said I own this house," said Neil Samuels.

Samuels owned the house but last week he was evicted after he lost his home to unpaid homeowner assessment fees. "They never served us, send us anything," he said. According to court documents, Samuels owed three years of fees, $260 a year. The documents reveal one of those three years was paid, but a final judgment also shows it was too late. In October, Samuels home was sold to an investment company. The Mark Stopa Law firm,

representing the investors, apologized by letter but told Samuels he had to move out.

"My first reaction was are you sure you have the right house," said Samuels.
Jacksonville Attorney Chip Parker is a mortgage foreclosure specialist. He reviewed the court records in Samuels case.
"According to the court records someone at that house was served back in January 2010," said Parker.  
Parker said homeowners need to realize that their Homeowners Association, HOA, may have the ability to foreclose for failure to pay assessment fees.
"The HOA has a superior lien to even the first mortgage company so when the first mortgage company forecloses they have to pay the HOA unpaid assessments," he said.
Parker says the HOA is fulfilling its obligations.
"You have to look at it from the standpoint of the HOA, this is money used to take care of the common areas," said Parker.
Samuels still finds it hard to believe he has lost the home over less than one thousand dollars in fees.
"I can't believe it is happening," said Samuels.
Kingdom Management manages the Riptide Homeowners Association where Samuels lived.
Sherrie Jarnu said this has been an 'open item' for many meetings. She added, "We have given them years to pay" and they didn't.
Bob Tankel, Attorney for the HOA, said, "This is an issue of crisis proportions, primarily due to ignorance by owners."
Tankel added,"On Friday we have 32 sales set around the state, mostly along the I-4 corridor."
"I don't think we had 32 sales in my first 27 years of practice, and the trend seems to be accelerating. It is scary," he added.

 The dangers of senior gambling trips

A senior citizens' group charters an overnight gambling casino bus trip from The Villages , Florida to Branson , MO.   

As they entered Missouri , an eldery woman comes up to the bus driver and says, "I've just been molested!" 

The driver felt that she had fallen asleep and had a dream.  So he tells her to go back to her seat, and sit down. 

A short time later another old woman comes forward and claims that she was just molested.  The driver thought he had a bus load of old wackos, but who would be molesting those old ladies?

 About 10 minutes later a third old lady comes up and says that she'd been molested too.

 The bus driver decides that he'd had enough and pulls into the first rest area.

When he turns the lights on and stands up he sees an old man on his hands and knees crawling in the aisles.

 "Hey gramps, what are you doing down there?" says the bus driver.

 "I lost my toupee.  I thought I found it three times but every time I try to grab it, it runs away!"

Tour boats ferry people out to the USS Arizona Memorial in Hawaii every thirty minutes. 

We just missed a ferry and had to wait thirty minutes. 

I went into a small gift shop to kill time. 

In the gift shop, I purchased a small book entitled, "Reflections on Pearl Harbor " by Admiral Chester Nimitz.

Sunday, December 7th, 1941--Admiral Chester Nimitz was attending a concert in Washington D.C. 

He was paged and told there was a phone call for him.

When he answered the phone, it was President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. He told Admiral Nimitz that he (Nimitz) would now be the Commander of the Pacific Fleet.

Admiral Nimitz flew to Hawaii to assume command of the Pacific Fleet. 

He landed at Pearl Harbor on Christmas Eve, 1941. 

There was such a spirit of despair, dejection and defeat--you would have thought the Japanese had already won the war. 

On Christmas Day, 1941, Adm. Nimitz was given a boat tour of the destruction wrought on Pearl Harbor by the Japanese. 

Big sunken battleships and navy vessels cluttered the waters every where you looked.

As the tour boat returned to dock, the young helmsman of the boat asked, "Well Admiral, what do you think after seeing all this destruction?" 

Admiral Nimitz's reply shocked everyone within the sound of his voice. 

Admiral Nimitz said, "The Japanese made three of the biggest mistakes an attack force could ever make, or God was taking care of America . Which do you think it was?" 

Shocked and surprised, the young helmsman asked, "What do mean by saying the Japanese made the three biggest mistakes an attack force ever made?"

Nimitz explained: 

Mistake number one: the Japanese attacked on Sunday morning. Nine out of every ten crewmen of those ships were ashore on leave. If those same ships had been lured to sea and been sunk--we would have lost 38,000 men instead of 3,800.

Mistake number two: when the Japanese saw all those battleships lined in a row,they got so carried away sinking those battleships, they never once bombed our drydocks opposite those ships.

If they had destroyed our dry docks, we would have had to tow everyone of those ships to America to be repaired. As it is now, the ships are in shallow water and can be raised. One tug can pull them over to the dry docks, and we can have them repaired and at sea by the time we could have towed them to America . 

And I already have crews ashore anxious to man those ships. 

Mistake number three: Every drop of fuel in the Pacific theater of war is on top of the ground in storage tanks five miles away over that hill. 

One attack plane could have strafed those tanks and destroyed our fuel supply. 

That's why I say the Japanese made three of the biggest mistakes an attack force could make, or God was taking care of America .

I've never forgotten what I read in that little book. 

It is still an inspiration as I reflect upon it. 

In jest, I might suggest that because Admiral Nimitz was a Texan, born and raised in Fredricksburg , Texas -- he was a born optimist. 

But anyway you look at it--Admiral Nimitz was able to see a silver lining in a situation and circumstance where everyone else saw only despair and defeatism. 

President Roosevelt had chosen the right man for the right job. 

We desperately needed a leader that could see silver linings in the midst of the clouds of dejection, despair and defeat.

There is a reason that our national motto is, "IN GOD WE TRUST."

Margo Stevens, HOA Committee

 Last year, I ask Tina Adams if I could have a young Dance team come in at no cost to us and put on a Christmas dance show at our coffee meeting.  She said I would have to talk to Margo because she had a fireside chat after the coffee meeting.  I called her and she refuse to canceled her fireside chat.  She says you can have it after her fireside chat.  Her damn chat with all the wrong answers was more important than having a young dance team come in and entertain us.  This my friends I will never do again.  What a waste of time talking to a bunch of  brainless people.  How in hell does people like this get elected to the CDD?   Please tell me, I just got to know.   lakeashtontalk@yahoo.com

WOULDN'T  IT BE GREAT TO TURN ON THE TV AND HEAR  ANY U.S.PRESIDENT,  DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN GIVE THE FOLLOWING  SPEECH? 'My  Fellow Americans:  As you all know, the defeat of the Iraq regime has  been completed.

Since congress does not want to spend any  more money on this war, our mission in Iraq is  complete.

This morning I gave the order for a complete  removal of all American forces from Iraq This action will be  complete within 30 days. It is now time to begin the  reckoning.

Before  me, I have two lists. One list contains the names of countries  which have stood by our side during the Iraq conflict. This list  is short . The United  Kingdom , Spain , Bulgaria , Australia ,  and Poland are some of the countries listed  there.

The other list contains every one not on the first  list. Most of the world's nations are on that list. My press  secretary will be distributing copies of both lists later this  evening.

Let me start by saying that effective  immediately, foreign aid to those nations on List 2 ceases  immediately and indefinitely. The money saved during the first  year alone will pretty much pay for the costs of the Iraqi  war. THEN  EVERY YEAR THERE AFTER IT'll GO TO OUR SOCIAL SECURITY SYSTEM SO  IT WONT GO BROKE IN 20 YEARS.
The  American people are no longer going to pour money into  third world Hell holes and watch those government leaders grow  fat on corruption..

Need help with a famine? Wrestling  with an epidemic? Call France .

In the future,  together with Congress, I will work to redirect this money  toward solving the vexing social problems we still have at home  On that note, a word to terrorist organizations. Screw with us  and we will hunt you down and eliminate you and all your friends  from the face of the earth.
Thirsting  for a gutsy country to terrorize? Try France or  maybe China .
I  am ordering the immediate severing of diplomatic relations with   France , Germany. and Russia . Thanks for  all your help, comrades. We are retiring from NATO as  well. Bonne chance,  mezamies.
I  have instructed the Mayor of New York City to begin  towing the many UN diplomatic vehicles located  in Manhattan with more than two unpaid parking  tickets to sites where those vehicles will be stripped,  shredded and crushed. I don't care about whatever treaty  pertains to this. You creeps have tens of thousands of unpaid  tickets. Pay those tickets tomorrow or watch your precious  Benzes, Beamers and limos be turned over to some of the finest  chop shops in the world. I love New  York
A  special note to our neighbors. Canada is on List 2.  Since we are likely to be seeing a lot more of each other, you  folks might want to try not pissing us off for a  change.
Mexico is  also on List 2 its president and his entire corrupt government  really need an attitude adjustment. I will have a couple extra  thousand tanks and infantry divisions sitting around. Guess  where I am going to put 'em? Yep, border  security.
Oh,  by the way, the United States is  abrogating the NAFTA treaty - starting  now.
We  are tired of the one-way highway. Immediately, we'll be drilling  for oil in Alaska- which will take care of this country's oil  needs for decades to come. If you're an environmentalist who  opposes this decision, I refer you to List 2 above: pick a  country and move there.
It  is time for America to focus on its own welfare and its own  citizens. Some will accuse us of isolationism. I answer them by  saying, 'darn tootin.'
Nearly  a century of trying to help folks live a decent life around the  world has only earned us the undying enmity of just about  everyone on the planet. It is time to eliminate hunger in   America It is time to eliminate homelessness in America . To the  nations on List 1, a final thought. Thank you guys. We owe you  and we won't forget.
To  the nations on List 2, a final thought: You might want to learn  to speak Arabic.

Study: Bay area among saddest US cities

We may live in the sunshine state, but one Tampa Bay city is the considered the saddest placed to live in America.
As a matter of fact, the majority of our cities are the saddest places to live among the United States, according to a Men’s Health study published Monday.
Based on suicide rates, unemployment rates, patients on antidepressants and people who admit to depression, Men’s Health came up with a list of 100 cities ranging from the happiest to the saddest.
Here’s how Florida’s cities ranked.
#100 St. Petersburg
#97 Tampa
#93 Miami
#88 Jacksonville
#82 Orlando
The happiest place in America was Honolulu, HI.
