Vision versus vacuum

I am a 35-year resident of Lake Wales, a former City Commissioner and Mayor and have been actively engaged in the life of our community the whole time. It is obvious to me that the upcoming election of a new Mayor and City Commissioner is of critical importance to the present well being and the future growth of our city.

I strongly support Mike Carter for Mayor and Betty Wojcik for Seat 4 on the City Commission. I support them because Lake Wales needs vision, not hallucination, it needs leadership, not dictatorship and it needs restoration of its image as the Crown Jewel, not the reputation of “government by gang”.
Both Mike Carter and Betty Wojcik will bring sorely need positive qualities to the City Commission Chambers in their individual roles.
Those qualities include high levels of education, professional experience, decision making expertise, communication skills, respect for individuals, love of community, and the willingness to represent the people of Lake Wales.

Our city is faced with serious economic issues that reflect the current economic condition of our state and nation. But vision calls for exploring options, sometimes outside the box, to solve our problems. “Just say no” is a drug program not a fiscally responsible government policy. “No” is not vision and it is certainly not leadership.
Carter and Wojcik’s opponents in this election demonstrate neither vision nor leadership and I urge you to vote April 5 for Mike Carter and Betty Wojcik.
