Good Questions for Jake Eaton

10 Questions for Jake Eaton (that you won’t see in the LA Times)

  1. It costs the CDD over $100,000 per year to maintain the restaurant (even more this year with plumbing, kitchen equipment, and AC repairs) in the clubhouse. Why, as a resident member on a developer controlled board, did you vote to with the developer to ratify a lease that pays only a fraction of expenses, and then again to extend it?
  2. The boat dock remains on CDD property, with no lease or income to the CDD. Why have you not followed up this issue in any meeting that you have chaired this year?
  3. Last month you stated that you have no investments with the developer, yet in April of 2005 you were telling everyone within earshot what a great deal the developer’s bonds were. What’s the real truth?
  4. The District Lawyer has demanded in writing an explanation from the developer of where a half million-dollar payment to the CDD was spent after Hurricane Charlie. No response was ever received. Why have you not followed up this issue in any meeting that you have chaired this year?
  5. The city of Lake Wales has, by city ordinance, declared that the golf cart paths belong to Lake Ashton residents in lieu of sidewalks. The developer continues to ignore this ordinance, and can sell these paths along with the golf course if he wishes. What have you done to secure these paths for the residents? Why have you not followed up this issue in any meeting that you have chaired this year?
  6. Restaurant assets belonging to the CDD continue to be funneled to the Eagles Nest. Why have you not checked the inventory given to you in 2009 for missing or stolen items?
  7. The CDD pays the developer over twelve dollars an hour for gate attendants. The developer pays just over seven dollars an hour to the attendants. Why do you continually vote to extend a contract that pays a 42% overhead and profit margin?
  8. Last year the CDD received an unsolicited bid for landscape services from the manager of River Ranch that was $100,000 less than the current contract with the developer. Why did you refuse to issue an RFP last year for landscape services fully knowing that there could be a savings of over $100,000?
  9. As a member of the Bingo Committee, records show you had knowledge of the misappropriation of thousands of dollars, yet you did nothing, and now deny any knowledge or complicity. Why?
  10. Why do you constantly advocate doing business with, and preventing competition to, a man who has continually lied to the residents of this community openly and shamelessly, about repairing the roads?
I am still waiting for the CDD candidates to E-mail me their resume. How long must I wait? Its like the MX issue, I am still waiting for an answer. These guys are just like him, slow, very slow thinkers.

Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "SHOCKING NEWS title NOTHING":

Think about it,

Do you remember the song....
" The Bells are ringing for me and my gal" ? Well " BINGO PAUL, and his CDD candidate wife will be singing...THE JAIL is ringing for me and my gal, and pals. The Blade is Falling Bingo Man...Get your house in order.. Tricia will send you a LA Times in JAIL...Watch closely its coming and you have no where to hide.

Also...Can you imagine...The Mayor of Lake Wales having his wife on Lake Ashton CDD Board of Supervisors... Conflict of interest. Think about who she sides with on all issues concerning the City and smiling Jack ?

Finally...Jake the Cop. He first nominates Jeff Salvin as Chair...Then throws him under the bus. He and Margo have ZERO Scruples. This is what Paul Pontious did to him when Paul stabbed him in the back removing him from President of the HOA.

He was worthless as the HOA board member ..we all knew that...and he wants another 4 years to deliver anything and everything the developer wants?

Like I said: Think about it

Sally J and Tommmy

The LA Times article has the CDD Candidate's Forum beginning at 4:00 PM on Sunday, October 10. Please be advised that it will start at 3:00 PM. The time was set before and somehow got switched. The HOA meeting was moved up to 2:00 PM with a shortened agenda so that we will be done before 3:00 PM. We originally did this so that we have enough time for residents to ask questions.

CDD CANDIDATES

I am not going to be like the developer, Larry Maxwell, only a chosen good friends will be posted on my lands and all others go to xxxx any candidate that wishes to place their resume on this blog for the CDD position will have a right to do so. Please sent it to lakeashtontalk.blogspot.com. Thank-you

SHOCKING NEWS title NOTHING

Would you believe that Brenda Van Sickle, Jake Eaton and Carol Pontious asked the Developer Larry Maxwell for permission to advertise themselves as CDD candidates across from the Main gate on the developer's land. These three Developer lovers should be posted at the U S Post office. They don't give a damn for the residents of Lake Ashton and they have not done anything for the community. Jake Eaton always says I'll look into it, and that is where it ends. He has done nothing to help the residents, but spend their money with no results. This guy is a joke. He still walks around with an unpolished badge on his shirt. He has done NOTHING.

Brenda Van Sickle has destroyed the community by calling the cops on the residents. Does she have a problem with the residents? Does she want to control this community and her husband controls Lake Wales? Doesn't she know Lake Ashton residents paid $2,000,000 in taxes and received nothing in return. You got that right, NOTHING.

Carol Pontious is another one, She and her Husband should be in the slammer. She knows nothing about CDD laws or Bingo laws. How would you feel if you was playing Bingo and the police came in, well it did happen two weeks ago, thanks to Bingo Paul. She can do NOTHING

The big shocker is the Developer will not allow no one else to place their sign on his private property. YES, you heard it right, no one is allow to post their name on his property. These three candidates are just pawns for Larry Maxwell. He needs all the help he can get and he found three fish. He allow his son to get a 2 Billion dollars loan for $183,000. How dumb can you get. Now he is suing to get his money back, good luck. He is building two story homes in our community without getting approval. He is so hard up for money, he will go to any extreme to save his butt from going under.

Lake Ashton should be run by the residents of Lake Ashton not by friends of Larry Maxwell. As you well know Jack Van Sickle is not well liked at city hall and I was told he is not going to be re elected as Mayor of Lake Wales, they hate him.

Yes, This election is fixed and those three candidates should step down. Larry is taken steps to get these people elected. Other candidates should have a right to post their sign next to the wanted three, but this will not happen. Sorry Larry, your candidates won't win this election. We all know how dishonest they are and are not trust worthy. The people at Lake Ashton have had enough of poor leadership, now they want candidates that will show results. Not NOTHING

Lake Ashton will no longer be called Lake Ashton. Many of the developers friends think it should be called Lake Maxwell. Good idea, the lake is dirty and muddy, it would go good with the developer.

IT'S ELECTRIC

I'm sure that you have seen pharmaceutical advertising in doctor's offices on everything from tissues to note pads This one should get First prize....

Letter from Grandpa or "What to expect as we get older

Grandpa is eighty-eight years old and still drives his own car. He writes:

Dear Grand-daughter,

The other day I went up to our local Christian book store and saw a
'Honk if you love Jesus' bumper sticker ..

I was feeling particularly sassy that day because I had just come from a
thrilling choir performance, followed by a thunderous prayer meeting.

So, I bought the sticker and put it on my bumper.

Boy, am I glad I did; what an uplifting experience that followed.

I was stopped at a red light at a busy intersection, just lost in
thought about the Lord and how good he is, and I didn't notice that the
light had changed.

It is a good thing someone else loves Jesus because if he hadn't
honked, I'd never have noticed.

I found that lots of people love Jesus!

While I was sitting there, the guy behind started honking like crazy,
and then he leaned out of his window and screamed, 'For the love of
God!'

'Go! Go! Go! Jesus Christ, GO!'

What an exuberant cheerleader he was for Jesus!

Everyone started honking!

I just leaned out my window and started waving and smiling at all those
loving people.

I even honked my horn a few times to share in the love!
;
There must have been a man from Florida back there because I heard him
yelling something about a sunny beach.

I saw another guy waving in a funny way with only his middle finger
stuck up in the air.

I asked my young teenage grandson in the back seat what that meant.

He said it was probably a Hawaiian good luck sign or something..

Well, I have never met anyone from Hawaii , so I leaned out the window
and gave him the good luck sign right back.

My grandson burst out laughing.

Why even he was enjoying this religious experience!!

A couple of the people were so caught up in the joy of the moment that
they got out of their cars and started walking towards me.

I bet they wanted to pray or ask what church I attended, but this is
when I noticed the light had changed.

So, grinning, I waved at all my brothers and sisters, and drove on
through the intersection.

I noticed that I was the only car that got through the intersection
before the light changed again and felt kind of sad that I had to leave
them after all the love we had shared.

So I slowed the car down, leaned out the window and gave them all the
Hawaiian good luck sign one last time as I drove away. Praise the Lord
for such wonderful folks!!

Will write again soon,
Love, Grandpa

UFO Sightings: Chinese Airport Closes Over Latest Incident

By Jack Phillips
Epoch Times Staff
Created: Oct 5, 2010 Last Updated: Oct 6, 2010

UFO sightings have increased in China in recent months, but one such sighting recently prompted an airport to shut down to prevent aircraft from crashing into the object, media reports say.

The airport is located in Baotou in Inner Mongolia, and three flights that were arriving had to circle around the airport to wait until the UFO disappeared, according to UK newspaper The Sun.

Two other flights were diverted away to nearby cities.

This incident was the eighth report of a UFO sighting in China in the past four months.

The object was said to be “flat and tubular” and hovered near the airport before disappearing, a source told The Sun.

There have been two other UFO sightings that have prompted the closure of Chinese airports.

"In God We Still Trust"

A man was sick and tired
of going to work every day
while his wife stayed home.

He wanted her to see what he went

through so he prayed:

'Dear Lord:

I go to work every day and put

in 8 hours while my wife

merely stays at home.

I want her to know what

I go through.

So, please allow her body to

switch with mine for a day.
'

God, in his infinite wisdom,

granted the man's wish.

The next morning, sure enough,

the man awoke as a woman...

He arose, cooked breakfast

for his mate,

Awakened the kids,

Set out their school clothes,

Fed them breakfast,

Packed their lunches,

Drove them to school,

Came home and picked

up the dry cleaning,

Took it to the cleaners

And stopped at the bank

to make a deposit,

Went grocery shopping,

Then drove home to put

away the groceries,

Paid the bills and balanced

the check book.

He cleaned the cat's litter box

and bathed the dog..

Then, it was already 1 P.M.

And he hurried to make the beds,

Do the laundry, vacuum,

Dust, And sweep and mop

the kitchen floor.

Ran to the school to pick up

the kids and got into an argument

with them on the way home.

Set out milk and cookies and

got the kids organized to do

their homework.

Then, set up the ironing board

and watched TV while he

did the ironing.

At 4:30 he began peeling

potatoes and washing

vegetables for salad,

breaded the pork chops

and snapped

fresh beans for supper.

After supper,

He cleaned the kitchen,

Ran the dishwasher,

Folded laundry,

Bathed the kids, And put

them to bed.

At 9 P.M. He was exhausted

and, though his daily chores

weren't finished, he went to

bed where he was expected to

make love, which he managed

to get through without complaint.

The next morning, he awoke

and immediately knelt by the

bed and said: -

Lord, I don't know what

I was thinking.

I was so wrong to envy my

wife's being able to stay

home all day.

Please, Oh! Please,

let us trade back.. Amen!'
The Lord, in his infinite wisdom, replied:

'My son, I feel you have

learned your lesson and

I will be happy to change

things back to the way

they were.

You'll just have to wait

nine months, though.

You got pregnant last night.'

Fw: Lake Region Audubon Society - Birding 101 Workshop Start October 5th.

To:

Hi Bird & Nature Club,
I don't know what happened to the Bird Quiz I sent - apparently all you got was the answers. Anyways, I'll try it again sometime. All those birds have been filed in their respective folders, so I'm not sending out (again?). Besides, you already know the answers.
I am hopefully forwarding this to you so you can see what Lake Region Audubon is up to. With Reinier working for them, the organization will really be a help to you if you want to learn more about birds. I would encourage you to join them and help support their efforts.

An introduction to birding. Learn about bird identification, equipment, techniques and the best times and locations to find birds. Occasionally birds can be identified by using several clues including behaviors, flight patterns and sounds. Subtle differences between species can be confusing at times, but with careful observation you will be able to pick up those differences quickly. Learning the main bird orders and families will greatly improve your decision-making when spotting a bird in the wild. This workshop will teach you how to take notes in the field for later identification of those first time observations. We'll help you become a better birder not only by learning the proper identification, but by learning how to collect relevant information for that particular species being watched.

The workshop is divided in three separate sessions. The first and second sessions are held indoors at the Street Audubon Nature Center. The last session is a birding trip to Circle B Bar to test your new skills and practice identification.

A follow up class on Advanced Birding will be available early next year to supplement this first basic introduction to birding.

Positive identification of some birds requires knowing variations in plumage as the bird transitions from immature to adult; such is the case of the Little Blue Heron.
