ROBINSON TOWNSHIP (KDKA) — The Vasko home is full of religious icons. Some of them have seasonal significance and some don’t, but all of them are inside the home for now.
“I had a Blessed Mother statue sitting out here,” Steven Vasko said.
He placed the statue just below the window of his family’s Robinson Township condominium.
“Yeah it was taken,” Vasko said. “The association – they stole it.”
He’s kind of right. The homeowners association did have someone remove the 150-pound cement statue from the spot.

The association says its common ground. No one is allowed to have anything on common ground so the statue had to go.

To get the statue back, Vasko will have to open his wallet.

“I have to pay a fine,” he said. “Would that be extortion or kidnapping? You tell me, I don’t know.”

Papers from the homeowners association indicate
the Vaskos were fined for every month they violated policy by having the statue outside illegally. That fine is now more than $4,000.

There’s more. Because they haven’t paid the fine, the homeowners association is holding the statue and has just taken away the couple’s rights for them to park on the property.

“This is religious persecution. This is discrimination. Is it a losing battle to hold your ground? No.

“If you are, then we might as well all quit as Americans and say, ‘Have a nice day, bye.’”

Looks like the homeowners association plans on standing its ground. So do the Vaskos, they say, for the Virgin Mary.

“I made a promise to the Blessed Mother and I’m keeping it,” Vasko said. “And this is about her. This isn’t about me.”

The dispute will most likely end up in court.

Mobile Homes Demolished As Residents Left Uninformed

Tenants of Lime Tree and Sunset Cove are ordered to be out by Monday.

Residents watch as a demolition crew brings in a front end loader Friday. By Friday evening, about 20 mobile homes, some complete with furniture and kitchen items, were destroyed or partially torn down in the two parks in Winter Haven.

WINTER HAVEN | Standing amid the destruction of surrounding mobile homes, Budd and Dawn Kuyper were worried Friday about where they will live next week.
The couple said a representative of First Bank Florida in Miami told them Friday that they have to be out of their home in Lime Tree mobile home park by Monday.
They are two of 20 or so residents remaining in the park who have the same problem.
"It's the holidays, and we've looked at a two-bedroom apartment, and that's $600 a month without utilities," Dawn Kuyper said. "We can't afford that."
Rents at the park range from $200 to $400 a month based on the size of the mobile home and whether the tenant owns it or rents it. Electricity is included in the rent.
On Wednesday, a construction company brought in an excavator and started tearing down abandoned mobile homes in the park, which is under receivership along with the neighboring park, Sunset Cove.
By Friday evening, about 20 mobile homes, some complete with furniture and kitchen items, were destroyed or partially torn down in the two parks, which are directly across U.S. 17/92 from Winter Haven Airport.
The Kuypers and fellow resident Trina Smith said the demolition began without warning and has unnerved them.
The name of the construction company doing the work could not be confirmed Friday evening.
First Bank Florida in Miami has the property under foreclosure, according to court records. Bank officials could not be reached for comment Friday evening.

LARRY MAXWELL, DEVELOPER

As you well know, Larry Maxwell is the developer of Lake Ashton.  He persuaded the city of Lake Wales to give him money so that he can build homes and have the residents paid for the CDD fee.  Then he sells the lot for 50 or more times the value.  Not only did he get paid from Lake Wales he also got paid by the resident.  This area was nothing but a swamp, not a open field, he bought it cheap.  If you dig up the roads, you will see nothing but mud.  I was there when they did the core drilling along with the late Jeff Salvin.  No one else on the CDD committee was there.  Me and Jeff Salvin saw the mud under the roads.  This was a open and shut case where the developer was at fault.  Jeff loved this community, no one was there to over see the drilling.  Jake the snake or Margo was not there.  No One.  The CDD committee are only concern about getting their $50.00 a meeting.  What a bunch of clowns.  You elected them now deal with them.

NEWS OR EDITORALS WANTED send it to lakeashtontalk@yahoo.com

Tricia Adams, Community Director, a big joke.

How is that possible?  If you are somewhat related by marriage to the developer Larry Maxwell, you have got it made, even if they went their separate ways a few times.  Yes she marry a cousin to Larry Maxwell.  Even Do Nothing Joe Hunter was surprise he lost the title of community director, now you and Joe knows the reason why.  He did nothing but stole your money and did nothing and now we have Tricia Adams.   Now we have sweet lips to deal with and no one gives a damn.  I have talked with many residents and if they know what they know now, they would have never bought their home here at Lake Ashton.  Its been nothing but trouble since I moved in.

I know, I hate it here because of all the crap that goes on here.  Stealing money from the Bingo players and using it to take his friends out to dinner by bus.  Bingo Paul, quit Bingo so I can play Bingo, but I'll be damn if I want you to steal my winnings.  Yes, the Pontious controls this community.  Yes, Tricia says only 150 word limit but she allows Bingo Paul to write two pages on Bingo and where the money goes.  What a bunch of crap.  She is nothing but a lair and full of bull, a 150 word limit.

Grandma's New Boyfriend
A 5-year-old boy went to visit his grandmother one day. Playing with his toys in her bedroom while grandma was dusting,
he looked up and said, 'Grandma, how come you don't have a boyfriend now that Grandpa went to heaven?'

Grandma replied, 'Honey, my TV is my boyfriend.
I can sit in my bedroom and watch it all day long. The religious programs make me feel good and the comedies make me laugh ... I'm happy with my TV as my boyfriend.'

Grandma turned on the TV, and the reception was terrible.
She started adjusting the knobs, trying to get the picture in focus.
Frustrated, she started hitting the backside of the TV hoping to fix the problem.

The little boy heard the doorbell ring, so he hurried to open the door and there stood Grandma's minister. The minister said,
'Hello son, is your Grandma home?'

The little boy replied,
'Yup, she's in the bedroom bangin' her boyfriend.'

The minister fainted .....

What Aisle is the Polish Sausage in?
Everyone seems to be in such a hurry to scream 'prejudism' these days................

A customer asked, "In what aisle can I find the Polish sausage?"

The clerk asks, "Are you Polish?"

The guy , clearly offended, says, "Yes I am. But let me ask you something.

If I had asked for Italian sausage, would you ask me if I was Italian?

Or if I had asked for German Bratwurst, would you ask me if I was German?

Or if I asked for a kosher hot dog would you ask me if I was Jewish?

Or if I had asked for a Taco, would you ask if I was Mexican?

Or if I asked for some Irish whiskey, would you ask if I was Irish?"

The clerk says, "No, I probably wouldn't."

The guy says, "Well then, because I asked for Polish sausage, why did you ask me if I'm Polish?"

The clerk replied, "Because you're in Home Depot."

We will never see this again.

Thought you'd enjoy this!
It's one you want your Children and Grandchildren to read.
They won't believe this happened, but it DID.
Harry and Bess
(This seems unreal.)
Harry Truman was a different kind of President. He probably made as many, or more important decisions regarding our nation's history as any of the other 42 Presidents preceding him. However, a measure of his greatness may rest on what he did after he left the White House.

The only asset he had when he died was the house he lived in, which was in Independence, Missouri . His wife had inherited the house from her mother and father and, other than their years in the White House, they lived their entire lives there.

When he retired from office in 1952 his income was a U.S. Army pension reported to have been $13,507.72 a year. Congress, noting that he was paying for his stamps and personally licking them, granted him an "allowance" and, later, a retroactive pension of $25,000 per year.

After President Eisenhower was inaugurated, Harry and Bess drove home to Missouri by themselves. There was no Secret Service following them.

When offered corporate positions at large salaries, he declined, stating, "You don't want me. You want the office of the President, and that doesn't belong to me. It belongs to the American people and it's not for sale."

Even later, on May 6, 1971, when Congress was preparing to award him the Medal of Honor on his 87th birthday, he refused to accept it, writing, "I don't consider that I have done anything which should be the reason for any award, Congressional or otherwise."

As president he paid for all of his own travel expenses and food.

Modern politicians have found a new level of success in cashing in on the Presidency, resulting in untold wealth. Today, many in Congress also have found a way to become quite wealthy while enjoying the fruits of their offices. Political offices are now for sale (cf. Illinois).

Good old Harry Truman was correct when he observed, "My choices in life were either to be a piano player in a whore house or a politician. And to tell the truth, there's hardly any difference!"

I say dig him up and clone him!

If you agree, forward it. If you don't, delete it. I don't want to know one way or the other. By me forwarding it, you know how I feel.

Enjoy life now -- it has an expiration date!
